Remount of Customer's Stone

This is a revised version of the S15 "Celebration RIng" which was originally designed with a round stone. The customer has a 5 mm square cut diamond and this ring appealed to her with the diamond bands stacked beside the engagement ring. I was able to draw it in her finger size, requested metals and center stone so that she can have a good visual to make a decision.

This prong setting will hold a lush amethyst with channel set citrines in the shank, all in blackened silver. I usually set all my stones in full bezels so this is something new for me.

This is another example of a customized design for a customer. This person has two 6 mm old mine cut diamonds and wanted them used in a 3 stone ring. I have shown it for here with a 7 mm cushion cut sapphire, in polished 18k palladium gold.

Custom Pendant for a Special Customer

This is an image of a custom pendant for a repeat customer. She really liked the scale of the Torus Pendants in silver but was looking for yellow gold. With this rendering I was able to show her how it would look in 14k yellow gold with an 8 mm blue topaz. It's a great solitaire pendant that slides on the chain and has an extender chain on the back so that it can be worn short at 15" or as long as 20". It's classic but still unique in character. I can't wait to finish it. It's going to look great on her!

Series 15 " Celebration" Ring Set

Finally, I've added my "Celebration Ring Set to the site. It's a great bridal ring, wonderful for remounts, anniversaries or just because you want to celebrate! It's shown here in platinum for a 7 mm center stone and 18k yellow gold bands with diamonds weighing .58 tcw. And of course it can be customized for other size diamonds.

"Big City Heart" Pendant

This is my "Big City " Heart Pendant. It is platinum with 18k gold rivets and a .22 ct. heart shaped diamond. Not for the faint of heart this pieces weighs in at 28.5 pennyweights and measures 26 x 26 x 5 mm. There are 20 pennyweights (abbreviated as dwt.) in a troy ounce. Subtract the weight of the gold rivets and this pendant is still well over an ounce of 950 ruthenium platinum. A 20 " handmade bar chain completes this unusual pendant.

Valentine's Day "City" Heart Pendant

As Valentine's Day jewelry goes, my " City" Pendant is not your typical sweet little heart. The heavy metal plates, rivets and straight line matte finish create a very industrial looking piece.

One of the first jewelry projects I ever did at Parson's School of Design called for the students to use cold connections, that is, to use mechanical means of connecting pieces rather than soldering them together. I used telescoping rivets, a solid tube within a hollow tube to separate flat pieces of metal. Then the solid tube is hammered out on the top plate to secure the connection. That's how rivets entered my design vocabulary. I want them to always be functional and not just decorative. In this piece, the space between the plates is needed to accommodate the depth of the burnish set diamond and ruby.

Online Studio Sale

This is one of the rings currently offered as part of our online studio sample sale. It's a beautiful ring created in platinum with a pink sapphire and diamonds. You can see more of the details on the site under the Sale section. It is currently a size 6 and can be sized up or down by about 3/4 of a size. Corundum (sapphire) is a 9 on the Moh's hardness scale. The only stone with a higher rating is a diamond which has a hardness of 10. This makes sapphire a highly durable stone to wear everyday and suitable for an engagement ring.

Finally a New Website!

My new web site has been a long time coming and I'm so excited that it's finally here but there is still a long way to go. I'll be adding new designs, as well as early pieces from my archives that are still relevant today. That's the great thing about modern design, it has staying power. I'll be adding more pricing and soon be offering online shopping in some areas. I'll have to add a section that explains how I offer limited custom design. So many things to do!

Now it's time to ship the item sold on ArtfulHome.com from the studio sale, that is currently running and the customized engagement ring done for a lovely young woman who I referred to Tiny Jewel Box in Washington DC. I hope that they both love their new jewelry.
